April is a British Ethical Designer/Maker of Contemporary Jewellery, living on the North Coast of Devon. She uses the coastline, rock formations and the sea as inspiration for her designs. Her Jewellery is bold and energetic using line, form and colour, every piece is hand-made giving each creation an individuality of its own.
April’s vision of her company is to strive for complete transparency throughout her business. This transparency spreads from her sourcing of precious metals suppliers and gemstones to the design process with clients. April is committed to ensuring she uses suppliers that have social and environmentally responsible business practices.
April only uses ethical or Fairmined Certified precious metals in her jewellery. Fairmined Gold is mined in accordance with Fairmined Standards set by ARM. This means;
- miners receive a fair price for their gold;
- miners’ communities get an additional sum of money, the Fairtrade Premium;
- health and safety standards are in place in the gold mines;
- no labour that is damaging to children ;
- safe handling and disposal of chemicals used in the extraction of the gold.
April is a licensee for Fairmined Gold with Fairmined Standards. This means each piece in the Fairmined Gold collection certified and carries the Fairmined Stamp applied by the Assay office in London. April was one of the first pioneering jewellers to launch in 2011 using Fairtrade Gold.
April is now working on this year’s collection using 24ct Fairtrade Gold, Fairtrade Eco Gold, Fairtrade Platinum or recycled silver.
